Written and directed by Amol Palekar, Kachchi Dhoop went on air in 1987 on Doordarshan. It was a drama about three young sisters. It was one of Amol Palekar’s first directorial ventures. This children's classic endeared itself to viewers with its fresh approach to timeless themes of love and sacrifice. The joys of growing up, discovering new friends, and the problems associated with adolescence and first love. These facets of life are wonderfully brought out on screen. Actress Bhgyashree, who later debuted in film Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) played the role of the eldest sister. The show was very popular among all sections of Indian audience. Bhagyashree was particularly affable.
