I am a Mahatama Gandhi Follower: Shakira !!!

Colombian singer Shakira, who has been awarded a medal by the International Labour Organization for her work to promote social justice and the advancement of kids worldwide, says she has followed Mahatma Gandhi's teaching.

In her remarks, the singer said on Wednesday: "Gandhi used to say 'Be the change you wish to see in the world' and I've followed that maxim."

Shakira dedicated her award to all children suffering from violence and extreme poverty, the focus of her Barefoot Foundation, that takes its name from Shakira’s first album. She added that witnessing extreme poverty as a girl “shaped my dream and my vision of social justice.”
